Earth Day 2016 Celebrations, Saturday April 23

The Village of Wakefield again celebrates Earth Day on Saturday April 23.

Presented by Wakefield Ensemble.

At 10 am the Green Market will open, featuring over 30 vendors of locally produced, edibles, cosmetics, crafts, building services and natural products.

Children’s activities will run through mid-day. including the Great Pine Tree Climb and Face Painting by Tasha Forget.

There will be food vendors and a BBQ provided by Alpengruss. Get your bike tuned up for spring by Expeditions Radisson.

Throughout the day in the Shea Hall, a program of 18-minute WED Talks will run, featuring 15 fascinating speakers expostulating on subjects of personal interest. Catherine Verreault, Parc de la Gatineau Park, Nadine Lacasse, Owner, Brunet Pharmacy, Geoff Green, Students on Ice, Marie Michelle Dallaire, Friends of the Gatineau Park, Caryl Green, Mayor of Chelsea, Meredith Brown, Ottawa Riverkeeper, Jay Sinha, Life without Plastics, Peter Andrée, Friends of the Wakefield Spring, Owen Tuf, Repair Café Reparation, Bruce Fraser, Environment Canada Scientist, Tina Therrien,  Camel’s Back Construction, Lielak Anderson, Certified Arborist.

At noon, Pontiac MP Will Amos will speak, touching on the State of the Pontiac Environment and answering questions.

At the end of the day, the new River Pride Festival launches with a Musical Theatre Workshop featuring Ian Tamblyn.

A free shuttle to the Centre is provided by Transcollines to the WCC from Lot P17 on Highway 105.
