The Savannah Sipping Society

If you’re looking for a good time – and for many that means going south in January – The Savannah Sipping Society may be your ticket. The laugh-filled encounter of four strangers on a verandah in Savannah is more than a story of female bonding; it’s about the wonder of choosing to be joyful even when life turns tough.

The Savannah Sipping Society was written in 2016 by a famous American playwriting trio collectively known as Jones Wooten Hope (Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, Jamie Wooten). These award-winning playwrights have written over 20 successful comedies that have been produced around the world. Jamie Wooten in particular was a writer for such television classics as “The Golden Girls,” where he won the coveted Writers Guild of America award.

The play comes to Wakefield from a successful run in Ottawa, where a critic called it “hilariously funny and entertaining.” AsRajka Stefanovska writes, “The Savannah Sipping Society is a funny, witty, fast-paced comedy about rediscovery through the power of friendship.” Just perfect for a winter’s day in Wakefield!

We acknowledge, recognize, and respect that we live, work, learn and play within the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the  Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
